Library Collections

Collection Development is a process of selection, acquisition, identification, and evaluation of library resources.  This involves print materials, audio-visual materials, and electronic resources.

Through the public library’s collection we strive to meet the information needs of everyone in the community.

The Adult Service Manager and the Youth Service Manager select the materials that PCPL will add to the collection. Some key elements of the selection process are finding in-demand materials, the next installment in a series, materials on trending topics of today, and other qualifying elements when it comes to the selection of materials. The library wants to provide its user base with a wide range of information and entertainment.

Materials, especially books, that are worn down from heavy use are routinely replaced through the years, depending on the circulation. Weeding the collection is a continuous process that PCPL librarians are always tending to for each collection.
