LIBRARY CARDS

Visit the Circulation Desk and we will be happy to help. If you are a resident of Putnam County you will need a photo ID with your current address printed on it. If the address on your photo ID isn’t current you will also need to bring in a piece of mail.

If you’d like to speed up your visit, you can preregister for a card using this preregistration link. We will be able to process your pending request when you next visit the library. 

We can also complete the process touch-free via Curbside or other accommodation. Please call the library at 765-653-2755 for further information.

No. All you need is proof you live in Putnam County. This can be achieved by a photo ID or mail.

Yes. The cost for an out of county resident is $30.

Yes. You can register for a card using your student ID.

Library cards expire every two years. If you have not visited the library in the past two years, you will need to update your card.

LIBRARY SERVICES

Yes. The library has three copiers for public use. The cost for all printing/copying is $0.10 per page/side for black & white and $0.50 per page/side for color. If you need to print a document from a computer, there is a printer available at the reference desk.

The library offers wireless printing. For help, visit the Reference Desk

Yes. We have a self-service FAX machine located in the lobby. Library staff members are not allowed to help patrons with the FAX machine. To send a FAX, you will read and follow the posted instructions on the Lobby Copy Machine. Sending a FAX at the library is free.

The library’s phones are available only for business calls and calls for transportation. The library cannot take messages for individuals. 

Community Help Desk is currently taking appointments.  Please call 765-301-7094 and leave a message should you get voicemail.  Your call will be returned as soon as possible.  

Yes. Request a meeting room by either calling the library or filling out the online Meeting Room Request Form. Filling out the form does not guarantee your reservation. The meeting room coordinator will email you to confirm your reservation. It is suggested to reserve meeting rooms several months in advance due to limited space.

Yes. Study rooms are available for up to two people per room at a time. Study rooms can be requested by calling the library, or booking a room through the Meeting Room Request Form.

FINES AND FEES

Yes! The Putnam County Public Library Board of Trustees voted in 2022 to become a fine-free library

This means that no fines will be charged for overdue or late materials (excepting some Library of Things items). 

Replacement fees or damage fines will still be posted for items that are damaged or not returned to the library. 

You can check out materials as long as your fines are below $10.

Yes and no. The library can only process payments in the form of cash, check or money order. You can pay your fines online using a credit/debit card by signing into your account here.

Fines are ONLY charged for damaged or non-returned materials. If you have questions about your account, please call the library, come in person, or email [email protected]

BORROWING MATERIALS

You may check out ten DVDs per library card. DVDs may be checked out for one week.

Yes. DVDs can be renewed as long as they are not on hold for another cardholder. DVDs can be checked out for one week

You can renew books, other print materials, music CDs and audiobooks twice, as long as no one has a hold on the title. To renew you can go to My Account, enter the barcode number on the back of your card, without the spaces, and enter your pin – which is the last four digits of your phone number. Clicking on the smiley face icon at the top of our website will also take you to the My Account function.

All materials, with the exception of new materials, will auto-renew if no other patron has them on hold. 

100 books can be checked out on one library card. Print materials check out for three weeks.

Yes. You may check out 100 audiobooks at a time. They may be checked out for three weeks.

We have search computers in the Adult and Youth Services areas. You can also search our catalog online.

Yes. You can request materials from Evergreen libraries here. We can put in a request for an item that is not available through Evergreen Indiana using the Inter-library Loan Request Form. Review our Inter-library Loan Policy to learn more important details.

Yes. Located at the Reference Desk, Circulation Desk, and Youth Services Desk are pink Order Request slips. Ask the assistant how to fill out the request form. If your request is selected to be purchased, you will be placed on hold to receive the item.
