Dear Patrons,

The Archives Department is fully open during library business hours. We are happy to help with all of your Putnam County local history and research needs. If you prefer email you can contact me at [email protected] anytime day or night. Alternatively you may call me at 765-301-7202 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. If no one is available to answer your calls simply leave a message with your name and phone number and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Best of luck with all your research! Anthony Barger, Archivist

The Archives Department is dedicated to the collecting, preserving, and providing public access to Putnam County’s historical records. We pride ourselves on being patron focused, making all our records as available as possible, and assisting researchers of all types and abilities. Whether you are an experienced genealogist or taking the first steps to research family or local history, we are here to help.

The Archives Department is located in the Cyril Johnson Room, on the top floor of the ‘old’ Carnegie section of the building. Here you will find printed materials about all things Putnam County as well as information about surrounding counties and Indiana in general. We also provide access to some 20,000 obituaries, family histories, and an archive containing thousands of photographs, family correspondence, journals, scrapbooks, and court records. We invite you to discover the collection for yourself.
