ANCESTRY LIBRARY EDITION

Access billions of names in thousands of genealogical databases including Census and Vital Records, birth, marriage and death notices, the Social Security Death Index, Passenger lists and naturalizations, Military and Holocaust Records, City Directories, New York Emigrant Savings Bank records, and African American and Native American Records.

This resource is only accessible from inside the library.

This exciting new resource contains more than 2,000 state, regional, and ethnic recipes—including food culture articles—as well as historical and reference articles including an ingredients section. AtoZ Food America is the largest food database of its kind focused solely on diverse American cuisine.

Fold3® features premier collections of original military records. These records include the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served in the military. Many of the records come from the U.S. National archives, The National Archives of the U.K. and other international records.

INSPIRE

​Includes full-text magazine and journal articles, websites, pamphlets, images, almanacs, full-text historic newspapers, multimedia, library catalogs, and much more. In most cases, INSPIRE provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts of all articles that appear in every periodical with the exception of some newspapers.Provided for FREE to Indiana residents through the Indiana General Assembly.

KANOPY

Thousands of streaming classic and indie films, award-winning documentaries, world cinema, and every subject imaginable from The Great Courses and PBS are all available through Kanopy’s streaming service! Over 30,000 films and videos are accessible via computers and through apps for iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast devices. Each cardholder is allowed 10 checkouts per month. You have three days to watch a movie after you have checked it out.

Meet Libby, a new app built with love for readers to discover and enjoy eBooks and audiobooks from your library. Inspired by user and library feedback, Libby was designed to get people reading as quickly and seamlessly as possible. Libby is a product from OverDrive.

LOCAL HISTORY DATABASES

The Local History & Archives department of the library maintains a number of databases filled with primary materials documenting Putnam County’s history.

TUMBLEBOOKS

A collection of animated, talking picture books, suited for elementary school children. TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books, adding sound, animation, music, and narration to create stories that come to life for children through engaging animation. The web site is easy for children to navigate and allows children to hear stories that are read out loud fluently. There are even options to hear the stories in French or Spanish. Each story comes with puzzles and games geared to ensure reading comprehension.

WOWBRARY

Wowbrary is a nonprofit service that provides you free weekly emails and RSS feeds about the library’s most recent acquisitions. We’ve found that users of Wowbrary emails are both awed and excited when they discover their local public library’s abundance of new books, DVDs, and CDs.
