- October 1, 2015Halloween Youth Book ReviewsWho says trick or treating must be done only on Halloween? It won't be the case this year at the library. For youth ages 4-19 a book review contest is here! For each book review completed, youth may select a prize from the new Treasure Chest. Filled with goodies for youth of all ages, there's something to please anyone. In addition to earning prizes for each review, one entry will be selected as grand prize winner: author signed books! That's right! Authors include Kate DiCamilo, Jen Bryant, Kathryn Otoshi, e. E. Charlton-Trujillo, and many more. Parents are encouraged to help children with any and all reviews. For youth ages 13-19, use this form. For youth ages 9-12, use this form. For youth ages 4-8, use this form. Join us on October 30, as we announce the winner and celebrate Halloween the traditional way with a book give-away in the Imagination Portal.
- May 29, 2015Seed LibraryThe Putnam County Public Library is exploring the possibility of starting a seed library. A seed library is a depository of seeds for members of the library. Members borrow seeds for their gardens; they grow the plants and let a few plants go to seed to return to the library for other patrons to borrow. Would you be interested in participating in our survey? Your feedback is important to us.
- November 3, 2014The RetroNetOur monthly newsletter, The PCPL RetroNet is now available. Printing a newsletter every month can be expensive so we have reconsidered the information inside, as well as how we distribute it to our patrons. Everything in this newsletter can be found on our website and much of it is duplicated across social media websites like Facebook, Google+, and Twitter. If you don’t surf the Internet much, we can also email you a copy of this newsletter in electronic form at the top of every month. Therefore, we ask that you not take this printed version unless you have no access to the Internet or email. Printing is expensive and we would much rather spend the money on books, computers, magazines, and internet access for everyone than on printing newsletters. Color printer ink in one of the most expensive liquids on the planet. Click here to get on the mailing list for the RetroNet.
