Putnam Adult Literacy Services works with the Putnam County Public Library to support and promote adult literacy through access to resources, tutoring, and improving information literacy skills in our community.

The Putnam County Public Library began exploring the idea of creating an adult literacy program in 2016 after seeing a need for such a service within our community. Putnam Adult Literacy Services (PALS) was created by a small group of dedicated staff and community members shortly thereafter. As of March 2017, PALS has been in the developmental stages - gathering information, funding, and volunteers. On August 4, 2017 PALS officially launched within the community.

We provide interested students with one-on-one tutoring by trained volunteers, host soft skills programs to be held at the library to teach literacy and job skills.

By creating PALS, the Putnam County Public Library hopes to make an impact throughout the entire community by attempting to reach those who all too often fall outside of its patron base.
