Part Time Reference Assistant


The Putnam County Public Library is looking for a Part-Time Reference Assistant to help patrons with a variety of requests and support needs.  This position will support  Adult Reference by performing general tasks and providing routine assistance to library patrons. Duties include assisting patrons in finding resources online and onsite, providing patrons with computer and photocopier/scanner assistance, assisting in reader’s advisory and/or some collection development work, maintaining some physical collections (books, DVDs, video games, etc), and other duties as needed.  

The position will also support technology services by providing general user support (basic troubleshooting, online reference, search assistance, and digital literacy).

Candidates must have strong computer and general technology skills, interest in digital literacy and 21st century librarianship, strong communication and customer service skills, patience in working with a wide range of patron needs, a willingness to collaborate both onsite and online, and be open to learning new skills and tools on the job.  A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.  

Job Details:
Part-time w/out benefits
15-25 hr/wk
Some nights and weekends may be required
Salary range  $9.00 - $14.00/hour commensurate with experience and/or credentials

Part-Time Technology Assistant


The Putnam County Public Library is looking for a Part-Time IT Technician to assist patrons and staff with a variety of technology needs by providing general end user and help desk support. The position requires experience with Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS, Microsoft Office, computer hardware repair, replacement and configuration. Preferred candidates should have experience with tablets, smartphones, mobile operating systems including iOs, Surface, and Android. Candidates must possess strong troubleshooting, communication and customer service skills, patience in working with a wide range of patron and staff needs, a willingness to collaborate both onsite and online, and be open to learning new skills and tools on the job. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
