Educator Resources

Putnam County Public Library offers resources and support for teachers, parents, and caregivers! The library and youth services staff are pleased to help you with your teaching and educational needs. Whether you’d like to bring your class for a field trip or are looking for homeschooling resources we are here to help.

Teacher Cards
The Library offers an additional card for educators and homeschool instructors that allows materials to be checked out for longer periods of time. These cards are additional to a personal card, unless the educator lives outside of the county. Out of county educators may get a Teacher Card after paying the $35 non-resident fee. Teacher cards are not fined for overdue books, but are fined replacement costs for lost or damaged materials.

Preschool Outreach
Our visits incorporate the five practices of early literacy. Visits typically last 20-30 minutes and feature 2-3 books and flannel activities as well as fingerplays and songs. Preschool teachers interested in having a librarian visit their classroom should email [email protected].

Educator Kit Request
With advance notice, a youth services librarian is happy to gather themed books and resources for use in your classroom, homeschooling, or day care setting. Request an educator kit.

Visit the Library
We would love to see your class at the library! We can offer book talks, tours of the library, research and reference help, and more. Request a visit by emailing [email protected].
